Will therapy work for me?

Wondering if therapy is going to 'fix' you is normal, as we all want to get rid of whatever problems are happening.

 

Therapy is not about 'fixing' the problem, although reducing distress is certainly a top priority.

 

Therapy is about uncovering and discovering the patterns, wounds and experiences that are causing problems and working through them, while developing strategies to live a fulfilling and contented life in the meantime.

 

If you are ready to find another way of approaching life, you might be ready for therapy. 

How long do I need therapy for?

Ultimately, it's your choice!

 

You decide when you start and stop therapy. It is most important to feel a connection with your therapist as rewarding personal milestones can be made with the right person. 

 

A good therapist can help you develop a compassionate and healthful approach to your concerns and help set you on a path of meaningful change ... but you always set the schedule.

 

Some people prefer weekly meetings and others prefer to check in when they need support. You tailor your own schedule based on your needs.

Is my problem too severe?

Many people feel their problems are too long standing and complicated to be solved. Everyone has the ability to heal and I firmly believe recovery is possible for anyone who wants it, no matter their past or present circumstance.

Recovery looks different for everyone. Finding your version of a healthy content life is what matters most, and what we will work on together.

What are your fees and do you accept insurance?

My fees vary on the therapy setting you would like to book.

Initial 15 minute consultation - Free

​

Individual sessions - The fee is  $155 + HST for a 50 minute session.


Group sessionsThe fee is $90 + HST per group session, for $650 + HST per 8 week commitment.

Workshops - The fee varies on length of the workshop at the audience size. Please contact me for more information.

I currently do more offer direct billing to insurance, however, my services are covered by most insurance companies that offer therapy/counselling coverage. Please contact your insurer for more details on your coverage and claim submission process.

I have never done therapy before, what can I expect in a session?

The first time we meet, we will have a short 15 minute consultation to make sure that you feel comfortable moving forward with me as your therapist.

Your first session will be an intake session. During this time, we will discuss your goals of therapy, what you feel you are struggling with the most, and dive into some of your past so that I can get an understanding on how to best support you.

​

Therapy sessions typically involve open and honest conversations in a safe, confidential environment. Together, we'll explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences, identify patterns, and develop coping strategies to help you achieve your goals.
